New Campus for M&M Music Academy in 2021

The brand new headquarters of our internationally recognised friends, M&M Music Academy, is nearing completion. They’re currently welcoming applications for the 2021 academic year.

Situated in Sunningdale in Table View, Cape Town, the new state of the art campus consist of 1500m2 of classrooms, studios, and a cafeteria. Central to the new facility will be a full-time music vocational high school covering grades 10-12; as well as tertiary studies of 1–3 years for students wishing to follow a career in the music industry.

These will be highly focused classes with a maximum capacity of 100 full time students.

Qualifications will be both locally and internationally recognised.

After a pause in construction during lockdown, the campus is now nearing completion.

Full-time students joining the academy will select a primary instrument such as, guitar, vocals and drums as well as their vocational pathway which will consist of either Performance, Composition, Technology or Business.

The second phase of the academy’s building programme will consist of a 300-seat auditorium, the first on the West Coast. On completion of the auditorium, a Performance Arts Awards curriculum including Acting, Musical Theatre, Performing and Creating, Business and Production will be introduced.

M & M Music Academy's Mission

The aim is to provide a flexible, vocationally-relevant suite of qualifications which will equip students with the skills to develop realistic employment opportunities in the music/ creative and performing arts industries or to progress to Higher Education.

The academy’s broad objectives are:

  • To focus delivery and assessment on practical performance, technical and business skills
  • To embed transferable skills and functional skills in the qualifications
  • To offer practical and/ or technical structured learning with the flexibility to specialize in different disciplines within both the performing and non-performing fields.

The content of the various pathways is focused on the recognition of achievement through performing and creative skills, business skills and technical skills.

The concept is both simple and revolutionary:

Provide the students with everything they will require to gain understanding and experience across all aspects of the industry.

This is career-led education with a ‘business-like’, ‘industry-led’ ethos.

Using a seven-pillar approach to obtain the best results from the training, our students will receive the following:

  • Vibrant and interactive classes
  • Live stage performance & event management
  • Production experience in a working studio
  • Course work and examination based assessment
  • Practical application
  • Masterclasses
  • Workshops

The students will be involved with many of the day to day activities under the guidance of their tutors. M&M believes there is simply no substitute for students gaining real work experience.
